“East Water” is committed to creating water security in 2023 continually, emphasizing leadership in creating stability in the management and development of the country's water resources with smart technology, moving forward to increase the potential of the large water pipeline network or the most complete water grid that support the increasing water consumption of customers.

               Mr. Cherdchai Pitiwacharakul, President of Eastern Water Resources Development and Management Public Company Limited or East Water reveals that East Water continues to build water security in the eastern region at its best with the additional construction of Nong Pla Lai - Nong Kho - Laem Chabang water pipeline network of about 120 kilometers with the project value of 4,200 million baht. The investment in the main water pipeline can serve the demand of water users in the eastern region in the next 20 years to increase the potential of the water pipeline network, resulting in a large water pipeline network or a more complete water grid by connecting almost all major water sources in the eastern region

               East Water has plans to increase the potential of water budget sources, both short-term, medium-term and long-term, in order to stabilize the raw water source. This will gain confidence for water users in the next 20 years to be in line with the current situation and not affect any water users. East Water develops and upgrades the service level to meet the demands of water users to suit the demands of each water user, providing complete water business services to various industrial estates government agencies, and private sectors both inside and outside the eastern region. There is a form of providing complete water services, including raw water, tap water, industrial water, wastewater treatment and water reuse, mainly focusing on the demands of water users to meet all the demands of water users efficiently.

               Currently, East Water has introduced modern industrial water production technology, which is environmentally friendly, reduces pollution, and provides services to water users. East Water is the investor in the construction itself and will open for commercial service in 2021. The industrial water production system locates in Pluak Daeng District, Rayong Province using sedimentation technology in the form of external sludge return with a maximum capacity of 100,000 cubic meters per day. This is the first sedimentation technology in the form of external sludge return and currently has the highest production capacity in Thailand. Such technology can also reduce electricity costs by more than one-third compared to conventional filter coagulation systems. It can also reduce the amount of chemicals used in the production of industrial water, including the use of less construction area than the sedimentation system and more than 50 percent of general filtration systems.

For the year 2022, East Water was selected to be in the list of Thailand Sustainability Investment or “THSI” 2022 from the Stock Exchange of Thailand for the 8th consecutive year, reflecting that the company has been paying attention to and has been able to conduct business towards sustainability, as well as taking into account the environment, and being responsible for society and managed according to the principles of corporate governance (Environmental, Social, Governance: ESG). The company has been adopting the concept of sustainability as part of the business process and has clear management guidelines to perceive the ability to create business opportunities and bring benefits to shareholders and all sectors of society.

 In addition, in 2022, East Water was certified by Thai Private Sector Collective Action Against Corruption (CAC) as one of 28 companies that passed the 2nd renewal of the certification, emphasizing efficient, transparent operations, acceptance participation for the past 30 years. East Water has been operating its business on the basis of transparency, governance and sustainability, including taking into account the stakeholders to achieve the goal of managing water sufficiently for all sectors, as well as improving the quality of life of the community for sustainable growth.

               Throughout the past 30 years of East Water’s operation, it has continually created water security in the eastern region by investing more to create stability in the water pipeline network worth more than 22,000 million baht. The first and only large water grid in Thailand, with a total length of 512 kilometers, connecting almost all major water sources in the eastern region, enabling East Water to effectively manage the entire system of water resources covering the EEC, reducing the risk of water scarcity in the event of drought or intermittent rain.

               Regarding the return to the government, in addition to the annual pipeline management rental payment to the Treasury Department from 1994 to 2021, which is in accordance with the contract and the rate specified by the Treasury Department, totaling 588 million baht, East Water has allocated profit each year for the dividend to the shareholders. If the dividend is calculated to government shareholders 45 percent, the total amount will be approximately 5,500 million baht. In addition, East Water has set the selling price of raw water that reflects the cost to achieve the profit that is suitable for the ability to be used for continuous investment and able to allocate returns to investors at a reasonable rate. East Water operates on the basis of transparency, governance and sustainability, as well as taking into account the stakeholders to achieve the goal of managing water sufficiently for all sectors and improving the quality of life of the community for sustainable growth. Therefore, East Water provided budget for improving the quality of life of the community and the environment over 100 million baht in the past 6 years.

Mr. Cherdchai added that “we remain committed to the mission of integrating the management of the raw water pipeline system in the eastern region, emphasis on unity and stability and taking care of the maintenance of the water pipeline system to meet the water demand adequately and in timely manner, as well as to be able to expand the water pipeline network system for maximum benefit in the present and in the future, thus ensuring that East Water will continue to grow sustainably, create stability and stability in water supply, according to the vision of being a leader in creating stability in the management and development of the country's water resources with smart technology which is the thing that East Water has been committed to for 30 years.”
