East Water creates good quality of life in terms of water to the communities

Moving forward with the sustainable maintenance and management of community water supply

            It has been 4 years that East Water has strived for improving the community water production to ensure quality and standard by establishing the project to control the production and maintenance of the community water supply system, integrated with the Fix It Center project in collaboration with Eastern Institutes of Vocational Education to develop the efficiency of community water supply system and village water supply system and minimize the problem of water shortage for consumption and create the good quality of life for people in the communities.

            Improving the efficiency of community water supply system in the Eastern region is one of the significant missions of Eastern Water Resources Development and Management Public Company Limited or East Water with emphasis on the development of efficiency of community or village water supply system. East Water has started to conduct a survey on village water supply system in the Eastern region and found that the systems in many villages could not work effectively and not align with the purposes of the systems, affecting the quality of life of the communities. The reasons for that could be the personnel’s lack of knowledge and understanding of village water supply system management. Therefore, East Water has conducted the project of maintenance and training on village water supply system management to transfer knowledge to the communities and provide them with training on village water supply system management based on the principle of “Community Teaches Community” along with the practical operations.

            In 2017-2021, more than 40 communities in 5 provinces which are Chachoengsao, Chon Buri, Rayong, Chanthaburi, and Trat that have attended the project to control the production and maintain community water supply system conducted by East Water have suggested the same results that the communities and villages could produce clean and standard water which would be sufficient for them to use for the entire year without a risk of water shortage. Also, they could maintain community water supply system correctly and effectively.

            In 2022, East Water is still moving forward with the project to control the production and maintain community water supply system to establish water security for the communities by integrating with the Fix It Center project managed by 9 Eastern Institutes of Vocational Education that have been trained by East Water. The emphasis is on transfer of knowledge to the personnel who are responsible for controlling the community water supply system in the Eastern region to ensure appropriate management, control and maintenance of community water supply system, effective use of water supply system, production of water supply up to the standards with the long useful life, as well as ensuring sustainability of the community water supply system.

            East Water has collaborated with Eastern Institutes of Vocational Education to improve the community water supply system in the project to control production and maintain community water supply system. The aim is to develop village water supply system in Chanthaburi Province to ensure efficiency of water supply production. The 9 communities included in the project are as follows:

• 191 Village No. 13, Na Yai Am Sub-district, Na Yai Am District, Chanthaburi Province supervised by Na Yai Am Vocational Institute
• Ban Soi Song Village No. 1, Sam Phi Nong Sub-district, Kaeng Hang Maeo District, Chanthaburi Province supervised by Rayong Technical College
• Ban Khlong Ta Kham Village No. 8, Khun Chong Sub-district, Kaeng Hang Maeo District, Chanthaburi Province supervised by Soi Dao Professional College
• Ban Suk Jai Village No. 7 Khun Chong Sub-district, Kaeng Hang Maeo District, Chanthaburi Province supervised by Ban Khai Technical College
• Ban Hin Dat Village No. 8 Khun Chong Sub-district, Kaeng Hang Maeo District, Chanthaburi Province supervised by Chanthaburi Technical College
• Ban Khlong Yai Thai Village No. 18 Khun Chong Sub-district, Kaeng Hang Maeo District, Chanthaburi Province supervised by Chanthaburi Technical College
• Village No. 3, Wat Khun Chong School, Khun Chong Sub-district, Kaeng Hang Maeo District, Chanthaburi Province supervised by Trat Technical School
• Ban Khun Chong Village No. 3 Khun Chong Sub-district, Kaeng Hang Maeo District, Chanthaburi Province supervised by Map Ta Phut Technical College
• Village No. 13 Ban Khlong Phrik, Khun Chong Sub-district, Kaeng Hang Maeo District, Chanthaburi Province supervised by Pattaya Technical School

            These communities would be provided with suggestions on appropriate water supply system control from the institutes under Eastern Institutes of Vocational Education.

            Complete integration of water supply management system has also been implemented, starting at Khao Wong Kot Sub-district Local Administrative Organization, Khao Wong Kot Sub-district, , Kaeng Hang Maeo District, Chanthaburi Province, focusing on transfer of knowledge of community water supply system management to the community water supply committee and local administrative organization to ensure that they can manage community water supply system effectively and are ready in terms of knowledge and manpower to manage community water supply business that generates income and rely on themselves on the system management.

            The project to control production and maintain community water supply system could be beneficial for the communities in the Eastern region as it helps the communities to solve water shortage problem and ensures that they have clean, good quality water for consumption as a result of their maintenance of the water supply system to be ready for use at all times. The project enhances the capacity of maintenance of the community water supply system and ensures effective service to the communities, leading to sustainable water security in the region.
