East Water’s 25th Anniversary Celebration: Building Reservoirs for Forest Conservation and Community Water Sustainability Leading to Sustainable Living
On the occasion of the 25th anniversary celebration, East Water has worked in collaboration with all sectors to seek solutions for water shortage problem by strengthening water stability to communities, arranging activities of check dam building and forest clearing volunteers under the “Step on Water Path of Sustainability” project to pass on the conservation of forest to the community through collaborative work and building of awareness for sustainability of the natural environment.
East Water has organized the “Step on Water Path of Sustainability” project on the occasion of the 25th anniversary celebration by cooperating with all sectors including government agencies, private businesses, patrons, and business partners as well as 700 local people in providing the check dam building and forest clearing volunteers at Ban Nong Muang, Chumsaeng Sub-district, Wangchan District, Rayong Province on the forest area of 70 rai.
Mr. Jirayut Rungsrithong, President and Chief Executive Officer of East Water mentioned that “East Water, as the operator of water resources business, realizes the importance of building water stability to the communities, especially the forest areas which are the sources of the water of the communities, which have been rapidly degraded. In addition, this year East Water is working collaboratively with the members of community network at the connected border of 5 provinces in the eastern region in restoration of the forest at Ban Nong Muang, Chumsaeng Sub-district, Wangchan District, Rayong Province to create collective value of humans and the forest in sustainable way in response to the Civil state policy. For this reason, the “Step on Water Path of Sustainability” to restore the ecological system of the pilot area. We have invited 40 volunteers to participate in the activity, and the total income would be contributed to Queen Savang Vadhana Memorial Hospital, Thai Red Cross Society, for its development, in collaboration with regional healthcare units, to the medical service hub of the eastern region.
Mr. Pirom Chumnum, Wangchan District Chief, Rayon Province, stated, “This activity is a strong collaboration of people in all sectors in restoration of natural resources in Wangchan District, Rayong Province. We see it as a valued activity which reflects the overall social and environmental responsibility. Most importantly, the activity has been conducted in response to the wishes of HM King Bhumibol and HM Queen Sirikit regarding the conservation of natural and environmental resources”.
“Step on Water Path of Sustainability” on the occasion of the 25th anniversary celebration, East Water focuses on the check dam building and forest clearing volunteers at Ban Nong Muang, Chumsaeng Sub-district, Wangchan District, Rayong Province on the forest area of 70 rai, which is part of the 25th East Water … Step of Growth to build community water stability through the model communities located along the water paths.
“After the check dam building and forest clearing activity, we plan to provide maintenance of the dams for the best benefit of people in Wangchan District. Therefoe, we will arrange environmental conservation activities annually to maintain natural and environmental resources in the eastern region. East Water is ready for moving forward to the future, being part of the stability and transfer expertise in water management to the country. East Water’s mission for environmental conservation is to increase efficiency and sustainability of water resources and environment conservation in the eastern region,” Mr. Jirayut stated at the end.
