East Water appreciates higher CG score and 1 of 55 companies of Thailand Sustainability Investment for transparency and social responsibility

East Water appreciated the 2016 Corporate Governance Report’s high average score of 96%, an Excellent level, increasing from the previous year. In addition, this year the company was listed in 1 of 55 companies of Thailand Sustainability Investment. This reflects the company’s disclosure and transparency and commitment to meeting investor expectations and sustainable business.

 

East Water Public Company Limited or EASTW revealed the results of the 2016 Corporate Governance Report held by the Thai Institute of Directors (IOD) sponsored by the Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) that East Water received an average score of 96% from 100%, an Excellent level, and scores by category as follows: Rights of Shareholders 98%; Equitable Treatment of Shareholders 99%; Roles of Stakeholders 97%; Disclosure and Transparency 97% and Responsibilities of the Board of Directors 94%, all of which were higher than the total average scores. In addition, EASTW was selected by the Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) as 1 of 55 listed companies under the list of sustainable stocks or 2016 Thailand Sustainability Investment.

 

2016 Corporate Governance Report of Thai Listed Companies was conducted on 601 listed companies in Thailand. The total average score was 78% while EASTW received an average score of 96%, higher than the total average score and the company’s score last year. Considering the average score by category in 2016, Thai listed companies received higher scores in all categories. Four categories with an average score of 70% or higher were Rights of Shareholders, Equitable Treatment of Shareholders, Disclosure and Transparency, and Roles of Stakeholders with an average score of 92%, 92%, 82% and 74% respectively. The category with an average score in the 60% level was Responsibilities of the Board of Directors with an average score of 68%. East Water was one of the 80 companies which received a score of 90% or higher or in the Excellent level

This year’s results showed that EASTW has been committed to CG standard development with concern for stakeholders in both social and environmental aspects. The company has a management process for sustainability with disclosure and transparency. Roles and leadership of the Board of Directors have become more proactive in the aspects of both vision and business strategy.
